I got this error, it means that your iPad / iPhone isn’t playing well with your Windows PC.

Why it happens?

You, most probably, didn’t let it do its shit while it was syncing (Ah, Backing up takes forever!)

What you do now?
1) Connect your iPad / iPhone to your computer.
2) It’ll show up the error.
3) Now, switch off your iDevice without breaking connection means, don’t disconnect. (Hold the button on the top for about 5-6 seconds and then slide to power off)
4) Switch it on. Hold the button on the top.
5) Your computer will most probably detect your Device and sync.
6) If not, try reinstalling iTunes.

Got any other fix? Please comment..

Apple’s third-generation iPod Shuffle – The smallest MP3 Player in the World! The smallest thing in the world comes with a price – No screen (duh!), No FM radio, No Voice Recording. Its has just one switch and an earphone port, that’s it! .

The volume controls are integrated in the headphones. So, you can’t use the old headphones (Even, if you do, you can’t change the volume etc).

Pros:

Tiny – Height: 1.8 inches (45.2 mm) Width: 0.7 inch (17.5 mm) Depth: 0.3 inch (7.8 mm) including clip

Weight: 0.38 ounce (10.7 grams). It as small as paper-clip.

Improved Audiobook and Podcast support.

10 hours Audio Playback

The Usual – Awesome Apple Headphone quality.

The new Voice over kit – It just tells which song you you are listening. If you hear non-english songs, this feature is crap.

Cons:

Complicated Interface – You just don’t drag and drop your songs into your iPod. You have to add it into the library then select the artist and finally press Sync (Phew!).

Tiny buttons – Sometimes can be irritating.

Controls on the headphones are high up, the headphones tend to fall down while operating.

If you connect this to a speaker system, you will lose the controls on the headphones.

Verdict:

It is a good MP3 player. Apple is going very small with their iPods but is it really needed? In my opinion, smaller the iPod, the harder it is to operate. I still prefer the Second generation iPod.

Then, I would remember to shut it down the next day. I normally do this with my iPod but this could be a good alternative.

I always wanted an app which would play audio files and then, shut down after sometime (like I do). I found this app which reduces the sound volume of your computer in a given amount of time and speed and then shuts down your computer. Awesome huh?

Apple is a company which is combating piracy by not letting people download songs from the Ipod. That’s really dumb, in my opinion. First of all, its ‘our’ songs that we are talking about, they won’t let us backup? Second, they aren’t really successful.

Ok, today I am going to show you various ways to copy songs from your iPod.

1) Using a Free Application

Download this app. You can Copy any file you want.

2) With a Paid Software. You can copy Podcasts, Movies, TV shows, Audio books, Games etc. and of course Music. Here’s the link.

3) With No software

Note: You’ll get files with goofy names.

Go to iPod: –> iPod__Control –> Music (Make sure that, you can view Hidden Files) . You’ll find these 3 folders.

And their goofy names. Just copy your Music.

At time, you might get annoyed with those irritating ear plugs and you would want to get a portable speaker. You go on Ebay and search for it….. and BAM! … it costs about $50!! You’re in the same position? Here’s the tutorial you are looking for:

Disclaimer : This sounds fairly good but please don’t expect Sennheiser quality here.

Better Speakers: [DIY] Stereo input for the Sony Ericsson Portable Speakers

The features are:

1) Battery less (No hassles)

2) No Electronic Knowledge required

3) Easy to make

Note: As there is no amplifing circuit involved, you wont get loud music but enough for one room, I guess.

Material Required:

1) A speaker cone. (bigger the better). You can find these on some toys, old radios, cassette players, technically any junk that emits sound.

2) A Stereo Wire (Headphone wire would also do)

3) Soldering Iron (Sort of Optional, but highly recommended)

Procedure:

1) Cut the stereo wire, you will find 2 wires (insulated ones) that is, Left channel – Right Channel and Ground (No separate insulation can be found)

2) Get the speaker cone. You can find 2 terminals. Connect one wire (say, left channel) to one terminal and connect the other wire(say, right channel) to another terminal. Connect ground to both the terminals. Solder it.

Testing 1, 2, 3….

3) Check it with an Ipod. If it works. Make a Box (Or recycle some box), put everything inside and you’ll have something like this….

Success?? Problems?? Please comment…

I was always wondering how you could listen to Audio books on an Ipod without a display because i was not sure about selecting the chapter. So I tried listening to the book (I am not a ‘reader’ kind of a person ), surprisingly the audio book support is very good.

How it works:

When you listen to a Book for some time, it bookmarks the spot. When you come back to listen to it, it starts the book from your last bookmark.

Problems:

I have noted that, sometimes, it plays from previous chapters. And if you press the ‘previous track’ button, you will go to the first words of the book. and fast-forwarding is a royal pain.

How to place the bookmark where ever you want?

1) Connect your iPod to your Computer.

2) You’ll have iTunes on the screen, if you don’t, open it.

3) Play the Book on the iPod.

4) Draw the seek bar to the place of your choice.

5) Pause the Audio Book.

6) Eject it and you’re done.

Note: You will not come across audio books when you are in Shuffle mode.

You might hate iTunes because it’s a bit heavy or just because you might be allergic to it. Whatever the reason, don’t fret. Like always, we have a solution!

You can use your iShuffle like USB Flash drive.

1) Download this file.

2) Extract this to your iShuffle.

3) Copy your favourite songs to your Ipod Shuffle.

4) Open rebuild_db.exe

5) Press enter.

Perform Step no. 3-5 everytime you add new songs.

Official Website

First, initialize your iPod with iTunes (that is, give it a name, and enable its usage as a mass storage device). This is needed because the iPod shuffle, despite not really using the iTunes database, is checking for its presence. You do not need to copy any tracks to the iPod; just make sure that a hidden subdirectory with the name »iPod_Control« appears in the root directory of the iPod volume. You may even delete the iPod_Control/Music directory afterwards. If this does not work for you (e.g. because you don’t have access to a computer that runs iTunes), you may also try this dump of my own iPod_Control directory.

If this doesn’t work there is a similar app. Download it from here.

Any doubt? Comments are welcome.
